It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Weinlos School.
At Weinlos School, we strive to empower our students to make positive choices by providing quality learning experiences in a warm, friendly, nurturing environment. With a strong focus on numeracy, literacy and 21st century skills, all staff members are dedicated to helping each and every student achieve success. As a collaborative inclusive community, we provide students with a variety of rich educational experiences.
We draw approximately 300 students from our immediate community, the Tawa area, and the Laural East area. Busing is provided for our special needs programs and for children in the Tawa and Laural East area.
We offer classes in grades one through six, morning and afternoon half-day Kindergarten and we are also a district site for division one and two Behaviour and learning assistance programs as well as division one and two Opportunity programs. To further increase the reading ability of our wonderful students, we also offer Middle Years Literacy Intervention and Leveled Literacy Intervention and reading recovery.
Each year brings about change, and this year, we are delighted to welcome a new kindergarten teacher, and a new Division one BLAP teacher. In addition to having a new Principal this year, we will also have a new Assistant Principal Fresh faces always bring about new energy!
We are very fortunate to have so many parents support our students during our special events and on our field trips. This year, we look forward to working with even more parents and community members. All parents are welcome at School Council meetings.
